Here at the Trinity Toddler Center we are so thankful for our good friend Pete the Cat! He teaches us so much about practicing our responses to hard things and managing our big feelings. Similarly to last weeks book, “The Way I Feel” by Janan Cain, our book for this week “Pete the Cat, I Love My White Shoes” is full of important tools for toddlerhood, preschool and the new social practicing we are so fortunate to get to be a part of with your bright, and fun children!
In this book, our dear pal Pete, encounters a number of different obstacles on his stroll down the street; which quite honestly also brings to light the very real likelihood that Pete the Cat may need to update his contact lens prescription! As he steps in strawberries, blueberries, MUD, and even a bucket of water, Pete manages to keep a smile on his face, and let the mess his brand new shoes have become roll right off his back! Pete sings a song and manages his feelings with flying colors. As a class, we repeatedly ask ourselves “Did Pete Cry?” to which the answer is always, “Goodness No!” We paired our group time lessons with some fun shoe decorating and creating, coloring them all sorts of wild colors because as Pete says, “It’s all good!”
We love Pete and all the tools he is part of teaching us, especially as we get used to a new classroom with new friends and especially a new routine! We have been reading about Genesis during our bible time over the past two weeks, it has been such a joy to spend time talking about and hearing about God with and from your kiddos! Thank you for being a part of my class, I am so glad to have you all! Feel free to let me know of any questions you have!
