You're BRAVE and BIG Preschoolers!

I have been so looking forward to welcoming your families and especially your amazing children into my class at Trinity Preschool this fall! We as teachers and staff are looking forward to the opportunity to get to know your children individually and as a class. It has been a full, busy and exciting first week of

school. Everyone has done such a good job by working hard to get comfortable with and learn about their new routine, classroom, peers and teacher (there is so much information for them to take in and process)!

Because the first week of school (ever), often brings with it, a wide variety of big emotions and feelings—we chose to read a book that supports this process with helpful descriptive language about those feelings. Our book this week was called “The Way I Feel” by Janan Cain, which covers a spectrum of feelings, some of which include Disappointment, Happiness, Sadness and Excitement. Along with this, we work to create a conversation around our feelings, we have focused and building the foundation and gathering the tools for talking about and managing our feelings! Our book also creates a fun reading opportunity during group time, for interactive reading and practicing facial expressions!
We made Feeling Engines this week, which contain some of the basic big emotions. They are bright, colorful and sparky with glitter, which made them so enjoyable to work on with your sweet kiddos. I am looking forward to utilizing on this project over the course of the fall semester; students will be able to adjust the meter on their feeling engine frequently to help themselves as well as their friends express and understand their own feelings. I am looking forward to getting to know each of your children individually, as well as together as a class.
If you have a family photo that you are willing to photocopy for us, or share I would love to add it to our “With My Family…” classroom wall! I love to hear from you with any and all questions, thoughts or information you wish to share! -Miss Emily
